After four years as Aldine Nimitz’s offensive coordinator—where he helped transform the Cougars into a perennial playoff contender—Rashard Colquitt is heading west, recently named the next head coach of the Sam Houston High School football program in San Antonio ISD.
Colquitt inherits a largely intact roster already steeped in a winning culture, with the Hurricanes coming off an undefeated district championship this past fall.
Rashard Colquitt outlines his vision for Sam Houston Football in his debut as head coach, in conversation with VYPE’s Matthew Ogle.

Rouse dispatched rival Cedar Park and watched Dripping Springs and Lake Trvis bludgeon each as the Raiders remained on top of this week’s Baseball Power Rankings. Drip fought back in Game 2 of their series with the Cavs to earn a split and remain in second while Lake Travis squeaked past Buda Johnson into third.
The Jags bounced back from a tough series against Clemens last week to sweep East Central and stabilize at #4 while Georgetown’s convincing sweep over ranked Hendrickson kept the Eagles inside the Top 5.
Liberty Hill swept Leander to remain knocking on the Top 5 door, just above Bowie and idle Weiss. Anderson powered back into the Top 10 at #9 after dominating a decent McCallum club while Round Rock dropped a spot to #10 after salvaging a split with unranked Hutto.
Cedar Ridge moved to #11 after battling Vandegrift to a draw, just ahead of #12 Westwood who heads into their VYPE Live Series Spotlight with Round Rock after a Bye week. Hendrickson looks to regroup at #13 after stumbling vs. #5 Georgetown while San Marcos debuts at #14. Vista Ridge rounds out the Rankings at #15 after holding off hard-luck McNeil.
Here are the updated Rankings with about three weeks left in the regular season.
