THE WOODLANDS CHRISTIAN ACADEMY TRACK AND FIELD TEAMS MOVED UP A CLASSIFICATION AND PERFORMED WELL LAST SEASON. THE BOYS FINISHED TIED FOR THIRD AT TAPPS STATE, WHILE THE GIRLS WERE TIED FOR FOURTH.
Coach Tom Earle has a good feeling about this year’s squad as they come back bigger, faster, stronger and more experienced.
On the girls side, the headliners include Sarah Chappelle, who won gold in the 300-meter hurdles and bronze in the 100-meter hurdles. The girls 4x400- meter relay won gold with Mia Torres, Lindsay Worthington, Zoe Calimani and Chesnie Russell. Calimani finished fifth and sixth in the 400 and 800-meter dashes, respectively. Ava Fuentes looks to build on her fifth-place finish in the triple jump.
For the boys, Colby Gorman had the best showing finishing fourth in the shot put. Other names to watch include Jack Cole (400-meters), Roric Hawkins Jr. (Jumps and Relays) and Blake Wiley (Sprints and Relays), just to name a few.
