NO. 1 -- FORT BEND CHRISTIAN ACADEMY EAGLES
Head Coach: Jeff Peters
2023: 33-6/TAPPS-5A State Semifinalists
WHEN IT COMES TO PRIVATE SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL, FEW TEAMS HAVE BEEN AS PROFICIENT AS FBCA IN RECENT MEMORY.
This season will feature the debut of coach Jeff Peters, who will emphasize a traditional sense of investment and dedication to Eagles in 2024.
Most recently, Fort Bend Christian saw themselves in the TAPPS-5A State Tournament once again, but were narrowly edged out by district rivals Lutheran South in a five-set thriller.
Rest assured that the standard will be upheld in 2024, with dual-sport super-star Bayleigh Minor (Sr. MB) back to lead, following a first-team, all-state performance.
She will be joined by second-team, all-state selection and Bryant University-commit Ruth Ochelli (Sr. OH), and senior Layne Bulow (Honorable Mention).
Others to watch include Lauren LeRoux (first-team, all-district), as well as all-district, second-teamers Daniela Ramirez and Grace Morton, which rounds out one of the most elite programs in TAPPS.

NO. 2 -- EPISCOPAL KNIGHTS
Head Coach: Cydryce McMillian
2023: 33-12/SPC-4A State Finalists
THE KNIGHTS OF EPISCOPAL HIGH ARE JUST THAT TEAM YOU SHOULD PENCIL IN EVERY SEASON AS A FAVORITE TO MAKE A DEEP PLAYOFF RUN.
Last year was no different. EHS racked up 33 wins and reached the SPC-4A Championship bout. The Knights fell just short of the ultimate goal and are fueled for a return in 2024.
Led by veteran coach Cydryce McMillian (600+ career coaching victories), the Knights return three starters to the mix.
Reagan Moriarty, Vanessa Reed, Mary Taylor, Sai Posey and Laci Schoen will be leaned on to lead this group into this year.
Keys to success for McMillian’s crew includes winning the serve and pass game, competing physically at the net both offensively and defensively and just to enjoy the journey.

NO. 3 -- LUTHERAN SOUTH ACADEMY PIONEERS
Head Coach: Geoff Stresman
2023: 341-8/TAPPS-5A State Finalists
THE PIONEERS WERE AT THE DOORSTEP OF WINNING IT ALL IN 2023.
Lutheran South won 41 matches and marched its way to the TAPPS 5A State Championship match. Although the Pioneers fell to Liberty Christian in the Final, they now eye a return trip in 2024, and they have the firepower to do it.
Texas A&M-commit Kirra Musgrove returns for 19th-year coach Geoff Stresman (364-228). Musgrove was the District MVP, first-team, all-state, a State All-Tournament Team selection, and also a USAV U19 National Team pick. She racked up 641 kills, 564 assists, 322 digs, 111 aces and 55 blocks in her junior campaign.
Also returning for LSA is middle blocker Kenna Sambrano (276 kills, 56 blocks) and right-side/setter Aniston Collins (783 assists, 270 digs, 113 kills, 101 aces). They were both named to the TAPPS State All-Tournament team and first-team, all-district picks.
Also watch for Jamie Faseler (216 digs, 51 aces – second-team, all-district) and Haleigh Pham (187 kills, 70 blocks, 43 aces— honorable-mention, all-district).
“A lot of offense is returning. We will have some young and upcoming hitters on the outside this year,” Stresman said. “Replacing Taylor Crain as our libero will be key, as she was our leader on and off the court and always brought high energy and intensity to the team. Senior leadership will be key this season."
