The score of last week’s game between the McNeil Mavericks and the Stony Point Tigers was 31-21.
At the end of the first quarter.
By the end of the night, the Tigers had outlasted the Mavericks 57-39 in a game that kept them in the playoff chase in the VYPE Austin CenTex Game of the Week.
The teams combined for another 23 second quarter points as Stony Point took a comfortable 48-27 lead into the locker room at halftime.
For all the first half wildness, the tempo slowed down considerably in the second half. The teams battled to a near-draw after the break as the defenses regained some modicum of control, which was more than enough to allow Stony Point to emerge with the win.
While Stony Point (2-1, 3-4) remains in the playoff race, they face three of the toughest teams in the district to close out the season, starting with Friday night’s (10/16) matchup with Lake Travis.
McNeil (0-3, 0-7) remains winless on the season as they travel to powerful Westlake Friday night. VYPE Live will broadcast that game.
