Tomorrow night’s (11/6) matchup between Cedar Ridge and Round Rock has only minimal playoff implications for Round Rock, and none to speak of for Cedar Ridge. Cedar Ridge is locked in as the #2 seed in 6A Division 2 while Round Rock is locked in as the #2 seed in Division 1, barring a massive Lake Travis collapse against Westwood.
So, what.
For starters, there are plenty of bragging rights at stake between these two Round Rock ISD foes, not to mention a chance to take some momentum into the postseason for both the Raiders and the Dragons when they meet in our final regular season VYPE Austin CenTex Game of the Week.
That may be especially true for Cedar Ridge (4-1, 8-1), who can flush a tough outing against Westlake with a win over the Dragons to accompany their earlier takedown of Lake Travis. Coach Bryan Vardeman’s Raiders will once again ride the arm of senior quarterback Dylan Snoga (124-188, 1,892 Yds., 22 TD, 2 INT) and a fleet of wide receivers led by senior Terrez Harrison (45-642, 14.3 YPC, 7 TD). Senior Devin Patterson (106-522, 4.9 YPC, 11 TD) has been the workhorse back with significant help from sophomore Deondre Crank.
Seniors Ayden Obrien Brown (96 T, 8.0 TFL, 5.5 Sacks), Jeremian Passmore (46 T, 13.0 TFL, 9.5 Sacks) and Powers Wallis (67 T, 5.0 TFL) lead a veteran unit that hopes to rebound from last week’s tough outing against the Chaps heading into the postseason.
Speaking of rebounding, head coach Cody Moore’s Round Rock squad is coming into the finale looking to bounce back from last week’s loss to Lake Travis. The Dragons (3-2, 6-3), who have notched quality non-district wins over powerhouses Vandegrift and Dripping Springs, will need to match those efforts against the Raiders.
Senior quarterback Dov Stickler (125-187, 2,060 Yds, 27 TD, 10 INT) has connected with senior receivers Dylan Jaeger (44-808, 18.4 YPC, 12 TD) and Simon Sylvain (41-770, 18.8 YPC, 7 TD) to power the passing offense. Senior Ryan Sirwaitis (110-597, 5.4 YPC, 5 TD) and sophomore Tyson Cummings (99-506, 5.1 YPC, 5 TD) share the rushing attack.
Senior Cooper Martinez (52 T, 2.5 TFL, 0.5 Sacks) and junior Ford Lucas (21 T, 8.0 TFL, 5.0 Sacks) anchor the Dragons defense.
Yes, a Cedar Ridge win coupled with an (unlikely) Westlake loss at Stony Point would give the Raiders a piece of the District 25-6A title, (albeit not the tiebreaker and top Division 1 seed). A Round Rock win, combined with an equally unlikely Lake Travis loss against Westwood, would vault the Dragons over the Cavs into a tie with Cedar Ridge for second in the district overall and, more importantly, give them the top seed in Division 2.
With the odds heavily against either a helpful Westlake or Lake Travis stumble, however, this one is more about tuning up and entering the playoffs on a high note.
Oh, and bragging rights, too.

Shadow Creek's Courtland Cloud (UTSA commit)

“What they gotta say now?”
Amid the celebration of Shadow Creek's historic 55-50 victory over Hightower in last year's Region III Final, Courtland Cloud had a question for the camera.
It was a brief moment, but one that spoke volumes about the personality of Shadow Creek's now-senior guard.
Confident. Fearless. Unapologetically herself.
For Cloud, the statement carried a little extra weight. After establishing herself as a phenom in the private-school ranks at St. Pius X, she transferred to Shadow Creek ahead of the 2025-26 season, stepping into an environment where expectations were already sky-high.
As it turned out, she fit right in.
“It was competitive from the moment I got there last year,” Cloud recalled. “There are a lot of players with plenty of stars, offers and looks from colleges. It’s a great environment to grow and perfect your game because you’re constantly being pushed to another level. Shadow Creek was the move.”

The decision paid dividends.
Cloud averaged 15 points and seven rebounds, collecting District 22-6A Offensive MVP honors and TABC All-State recognition. More importantly, she helped propel the Lady Sharks to their first UIL State Semifinal appearance.
Yet individual accolades have never been the driving force behind her tenacity.
“I just want to win,” Cloud said. “I’m always going to have that energy and intensity in me. So, when I’m really on one, it’s just a crazy feeling that’s hard to describe. I want to channel that into being there for my teammates, showing up when they need me and getting the W for my coach.”
Her abilities on the court have also put the collegiate stage within reach. In late September, Cloud announced her commitment to UTSA — a decision further solidified by her official visit.
“I got to watch them practice, and the intensity was on another level,” she said. “I was itching to get out there and practice with them. Everything about it just felt like my type of game and a family environment I could see myself being part of.”
Still, Cloud recognizes that making the leap to college basketball will require more than sheer athletic ability.

“There are times when I need to lock in mentally and slow everything down,” she explained. “I can get really pumped up during games, so it’s about finding that balance and learning to control myself better on the court. I also want to keep working on being a better teammate and becoming more vocal.”
Away from the court, Cloud has already found an outlet for slowing things down.
Fishing.
Whether she's heading to Galveston with her uncle or finding a nearby pond, the pastime offers a welcome contrast to the adrenaline of basketball.
“It’s very calming, and honestly, I need that sometimes,” she admitted.
As Cloud approaches the closing chapter of her high school career, the perspective she's gained along the way is perhaps best reflected in the advice she'd offer her younger self.
“Keep the main thing the main thing,” she said. “If you want to do something, do it the right way and give it everything you’ve got. Stay locked in, keep your people close and stay close to God.”
Her next destination may be decided, but Cloud isn't finished writing her story at Shadow Creek.
After all, she's already asked the question.
Now, she has one more season to give everyone an answer.
