4A SOFTBALL -- Episcopal captures its ninth straight championship

Champions are anything but predetermined over the course of a long season. Still, under head coach Caitlyn Cain, Episcopal has often made winning it all feel inevitable—and this spring proved no different.
The Lady Knights once again found themselves hoisting the SPC 4A trophy this past Saturday, defeating familiar foe St. John’s, 2-1. In addition to capping the season with an impressive 26-6 record, Episcopal secured its ninth consecutive championship and 24th overall.
All-SPC nominations are still pending, but the team’s star power is no mystery. From Sacramento State signee Jordan Bey (Sr. LHP) and Memphis commit Alexis Johnson (Jr. OF) to Hayleigh Hubbard (Jr. SS), Addison Conner (Sr. 1B), Elliot Loper (Sr. OF), and senior catcher Claire Johnson, this roster was loaded.
Fittingly, it served as the perfect sendoff for Cain’s legendary tenure at EHS, as she and her family prepare to relocate to Raleigh, North Carolina, at the end of the school year.
4A BASEBALL -- The Knights reclaim the SPC crown

Everything seemed to fall into place for Episcopal (22-7) this spring. The Knights not only stayed healthy for much of the campaign, but their depth and balanced lineup consistently overwhelmed opponents.
That edge was most evident in the postseason, where they dispatched Houston Christian, 13-3, in the Semifinals before trouncing The Kinkaid School, 11-1, in Saturday’s SPC 4A Championship—flipping the script on a Falcons squad that won in last year’s Final.
In doing so, head coach Matt Fox and company obtained their first title since 2023, as well as the program’s 17th all-time.
TRACK & FIELD -- Episcopal sweeps 4A / John Cooper & Awty International take 3A
2025-2026 Episcopal Boys Track & Field
The SPC Spring Championships track & field portion ended with familiar names at the top, as both Episcopal teams captured first place at The Awty International School this past weekend. The wins secured the boys’ fourth consecutive title and the girls’ third—all in head coach Isaiah Coleman’s final season before transitioning into an administrative role at EHS, where assistant coach Jeremy Eddington will take over.
Behind Episcopal in the 4A standings were second-place finishes from The Kinkaid School (boys) and The Hockaday School (girls).
At the same venue, The John Cooper School boys broke through for their first SPC 3A title, surpassing Fort Worth Country Day. Meanwhile, the Awty International Lady Rams made the most of their home track, capturing the 3A crown as John Cooper finished runner-up in the girls’ field.

Following a second-place finish in District 17-6A, the Lady Rams have kept the momentum rolling—sweeping Lamar in the opening round before edging Fulshear, 7-6, in a decisive Game 3 this past Saturday to claim the Area crown.
Now, Cy Ridge (18-10) aims to keep the magic alive, facing Pearland (32-5) in a pivotal best-of-three series in this week’s 6A Division 1 Regional Semifinals.

Leading the charge is reigning 17-6A Offensive MVP Ariel Arambula, a Texas Tech signee and the most dangerous bat in Hasselbring’s lineup. The senior is hitting just over .600, totaling 49 RBIs and a monstrous 15 home runs.
Arambula has also proven capable in the circle when needed, posting a solid 3.18 ERA across 14 appearances.
The ace distinction, somewhat surprisingly, belongs to a freshman. Right-hander Kayla Ortega is in the midst of an impressive debut, posting a 2.24 ERA with 158 strikeouts while also batting for .400 with 24 RBIs.
The lineup is further bolstered by Brianna Morales (Fr. 3B/C), Analia Hinojosa (Jr. 1B), Priscilla Garza (So. SS), Rose Ramos (So. C), and senior outfielder and captain Kaitlyn McIntyre.
Cypress Ridge will open its series against Pearland on Wednesday, with Game 2 set for Thursday and Game 3 (if necessary) on Friday. Each contest is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Cypress Falls High School.
