Bridgeland's Kennedy Boatman
Jamey Wright (VYPE)
In just over a year, Kennedy Boatman has gone from a rising talent to one of the most impactful setters in the Greater Houston volleyball scene. Now a senior for Bridgeland, Boatman has solidified her role as the engine behind the Bears’ offense – doing so with consistency that’s hard to ignore.
Already committed to East Tennessee State since July 2024, Boatman continues to raise the bar.
After earning District 16-6A Co-Newcomer of the Year and first-team, all-district honors last season, she’s picked up right where she left off this fall — helping guide Bridgeland to a strong 13-4 record and the No. 6 spot in the latest area rankings.
But her value goes well beyond the win-loss column.
Over the course of this past weekend, Boatman surpassed 1,000 career assists at Bridgeland — an impressive benchmark that speaks to her precision and intuition for the game.
Just a few weeks into the season, she’s also on pace for a personal-best, already notching close to 250 assists, along with just under 75 digs – showcasing her adaptability on the defensive side.
The Bears, meanwhile, are putting together a start that suggests they’ll be a force in 16-6A once again. Wins over top-tier programs such as Seven Lakes, College Park, The Woodlands, Stratford, and Ridge Point have positioned them as legit contenders — with a high-stakes showdown looming against district rival Cypress Ranch in late September.
If Bridgeland is going to make a run this season, Boatman will almost certainly be at the center of it — setting the tone, setting the ball, and setting the standard.
