It’s hard to argue with undefeated. And since we’ve gotta start somewhere, placing an undefeated Westlake squad atop our initial 2025-26 Austin area Girls Basketball Power Rankings seems like a pretty safe bet.
That said, the Capital City is once again loaded with powerhouse Girls Basketball teams and plenty of talent. And this initial collection is a fairly even mix of 6A and 5A teams as well, with 4A Manor New Tech also making some noise.
There are some traditional powers that aren’t even on this initial Rankings -- Vista Ridge and Cedar Park, we’re looking at you – but don’t be surprised if they’re listed once again by the time February rolls around.
Some districts have already begun play; others are on the verge of getting underway. We’ll dive deeper next week but here’s our first crack at the Girls Ranking.
