THE HIERARCHY: VYPE SATX 2025 Week 4 Football Rankings; Davenport moves up with shootout victory
15 Sep, 2025
As the non-district slate nears its close, San Antonio-area programs are beginning to settle into form — and so are the rankings. While most of the Top-10 remains intact heading into Week 4, a few notable shifts suggest there’s still plenty of movement to come.
Cibolo Steele maintains its grip on the top spot after handling Brandeis with ease. The Knights’ upcoming road trip to Westlake looms large, offering an early-season litmus test against one of the state’s premier programs.
Brennan remains firmly in the mix after a dominant win of its own, with an intriguing matchup against fellow unbeaten Harlan set for Saturday.
Smithson Valley stays in the top three following a bounce-back win, while Johnson and New Braunfels continue to take care of business behind them. Each has showcased steady improvement and should be well-positioned heading into district play.
Further down the list, several 5A squads — including Alamo Heights and Boerne — continue to build momentum, but it’s 4A Davenport that made the loudest statement. The Wolves edged Pieper in a high-scoring thriller, not only preserving their perfect record but also climbing into the spotlight among higher-class programs.
Though early trends are beginning to take shape, the picture is far from complete. With multiple ranked matchups ahead, Week 4 has the potential to shake up the hierarchy — or further cement it.

THE HIERARCHY: VYPE DFW 2025 Week 4 Football Rankings; Lone Star, Waxahachie move up the order
15 Sep, 2025
As Week 4 approaches, the VYPE DFW Top 20 remains largely intact—but the margins between contenders are starting to take shape. While it’s still early, a handful of programs are beginning to assert their identities, showing signs they could be built for deeper runs down the line.
North Crowley continues to set the pace after a hard-fought win over Denton Guyer, a game that tested the Panthers in ways their previous victories hadn’t. Their ability to win a low-scoring battle bodes well as they prepare for a tricky Thursday matchup against Rockwall.
Southlake Carroll, meanwhile, looks every bit the part of a top-tier threat, rolling past Byron Nelson with ease. The Dragons have yet to be seriously tested, but that could change this week as they host a surging Trinity team that’s also off to a 3-0 start.
Duncanville remains a looming presence in the top three, despite having just one game under its belt. The Panthers return from a bye to face Waxahachie—a team that’s quietly impressed and could prove to be a tougher out than expected.
In 5A, South Oak Cliff rebounded well from its early loss with a signature win over Longview, while Aledo, Lone Star, and Denton Ryan each extended their perfect starts. All three have looked sharp in different ways, but the coming weeks should offer a clearer sense of staying power.
Among smaller schools, Celina continues to rise after a convincing win over Gunter. A Friday matchup with Franklin will serve as an early litmus test for the Bobcats’ long-term potential.
Though the rankings remain largely unchanged, the tension is beginning to build. With several marquee matchups on deck, Week 4 may start to reveal which teams are truly built to last.
