Continued growth has defined our first year in Arkansas, as expected. We released VYPE’s inaugural statewide Football Preview last month and are hosting the first annual VYPE Select 7-on-7 tournament presented by McDonald’s – and we’re lovin’ it!— on the University of Arkansas’ campus this month.
Besides making the VYPE transition complete with this issue, we’re also launching a Central Arkansas monthly magazine in September, along with all the great features and photos readers in Western Arkansas have come to love and expect each month.
But no worries Western Arkansas high school sports fans, this remains our first priority and we can’t wait to watch this magazine keep evolving thanks to your support and ideas of how to make it even better each month.
And it’s still at a price that can’t be beat — FREE!!!
We also can’t wait to see what happens this school year and are anxious to see what teams and players emerge as the best of the best. We’re also going to start covering a few towns that should’ve been included in our coverage area originally such as Cedarville and Charleston. If you live in those towns, be sure to send story ideas to our editor (mike.capshaw@VYPE.com) for consideration.
And don’t miss our inaugural statewide football preview, Copies are going fast at only $7.99 each. You can find your copy at every Wal-Mart in the state as well as Harps Food Stores, Kroger, Barnes and Noble and other spots magazines are sold.
In this month’s issue we take a summer break from the usual high school sports and highlight spirit with plenty of pictures and stories. In fact, Features 1 and 2 are dedicated to a handful of college-bound cheerleaders from our region, both boys and girls. Then our GamePlan section is about some of the best cheer and dance squads from Fayetteville, Fort Smith Southside and Springdale Har-Ber.
July also was the perfect time to track down stories on top competitors from towns like Bentonville, Springdale and Gentry in non-traditional sports such as motocross and fencing that also include awesome art by Will Flowers and Tom Ewart.
Springdale quarterback Ashton Glaser is featured in our Triple Play and we go One-on-One with up-and-coming Siloam Spring’s 6-foot-4 hoopster Ashley Adams. Both have recently emerged as big-time college prospects. There’s also former Razorbacks highlighted with Tony Bua in our How To?, Clarke Moore in our Where are they now?, Jeb Huckeba in Spotlight and much, much more!
