The Rangerettes paved the way for all performing dance teams. With their traditional hat and boots and amazing performances they created a level of half-time performance that is still unequaled anywhere in the country.

It’s a Friday night in the fall and it’s halftime at Jarrell Williams Stadium in Springdale. The Har-Ber High School Band Drum Line starts a cadence and the award-winning Har-Ber High School Silver Stars take the field in a precise, choreographed entrance.
They are dressed in their performing uniform with a silver star emblazoned on their chest, their hats tilted over their right eye, their boots polished to a gleaming shine. As the public address announcer calls over the loud speaker, “please welcome to the field, the award-winning Har-Ber High School Silver Stars”, the crowd comes alive with applause and calls hoping to catch the Silver Stars traditional high kick routine. This is different comes a mumble from the spectators, what are they doing? Why are they dressed like that? What image are they setting? In an area filled with pom pom style dance teams, the Silver Stars are different.
The Silver Stars have returned to the roots of half-time dance performance. They are following in the footsteps of the world famous Kilgore College Rangerettes. The Kilgore Rangerettes are the original half-time dance performing group. Originally created to keep rowdy football fans in their seats during halftime of football games at Kilgore College. Located in the oil rich area of East Texas, the Rangerettes have awed audiences small and large with their precision dance performances and world-renowned high kick routines.
The Rangerettes paved the way for all performing dance teams. With their traditional hat and boots and amazing performances they created a level of half-time performance that is still unequaled anywhere in the country.
The Silver Stars at Har-Ber High much like many other groups throughout Texas and the Country wanted to stand out and be different, much like their precedssors’ the Rangerettes had been. The Silver Stars set a new path for dance at Har-Ber High just as all of the sports, band, choir and other activities at Har-Ber High had. So a drill team was born. The person hired to direct the Drill Team at Har-Ber High School had the experience and background in drill team and dance training to create something special and new for the upcoming school. The desire was to build a program that would stand out and be recognized in Northwest Arkansas and the Region as leaders and innovators of quality croup pleasing dance performances at Har-Ber sporting events.
Currently with the beginning of the 4th line of Silver Stars (the 4th year) with a team of 23 the Silver Stars train during the school year each day as well as specialized practices two to three days a week before school from 6:45 to 8:20 am to prepare of each precision performance. The Silver Stars will also compete among the other top dance teams in the state at the Arkansas State Dance Competition in November. The Silver Stars attend dance camp in Dallas, Texas to learn and acquire those skills required to be a great performing drill/dance team.
Back at the fall football game the Silver stars are receiving their standing ovation for another outstanding performance of their traditional crowd pleasing kick routine that connects with young and old alike.
The Silver Stars of Har-Ber High are still growing and proving a name for themselves in the competitive dance world in Arkansas, be looking because if you are not careful you might miss an amazing performance.
