Siloam Springs’ receiver Roger Jackson is closing in on his college decision. He has scholarship offers from Mississippi Valley State, Arkansas Tech and Henderson. Missouri State also may offer in the coming days.

“I took a visit to (Arkansas) Tech already and I’m going to Mississippi Valley State this weekend,” Jackson said. “So I’m hoping to make adecision by the end of the weekend.”

Jackson, a Katrina evacuee, said he’s currently favoring either Missouri State or Arkansas Tech. He’s been to both schools and was especially impressed with Missouri State in Springfield, Mo.

“If they offer, I will probably say ‘Yes,’ because I loved the area and I know another guy going there,” Jackson said. “Cory Bailey from Camden Fairview. I met him after they killed us in the playoffs. He’s real cool, so I would be good to go if I end up there.

“But if not there, then probably Arkansas Tech.”

The fact that Arkansas Tech may offer earlier playing time than some of the others will weigh into Jackson’s decision. He said he really enjoyed the coaches and players while on a visit to Tech’s Russellville campus. Jackson also didn’t rule out Mississippi Valley State.

“If I have a good time (this weekend), you never know,” Jackson said. “They could end up in the mix, too.”
