Nick Horvath, a 1999 graduate of Mounds View High School, earned a spot on the New Zealand "Tall Blacks" National Basketball Team.
Horvath, a naturalized New Zealand citizen and who's wife is a native of the island nation that neighbors Australia, is a center for the Wellington Saints of the National Basketball League of New Zealand. He became a citizen of New Zealand this past April.
The Minnesota native will accompany the Tall Blacks as they attempt to qualify for the Beijing Olympics in a FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Athens this month.
A former Duke University captain, Horvath averaged 17.5 points and 9.2 rebounds for the Saints this season.
