Union’s Jeremy Smith is listed as one of the top running back prospects in the state and nation for 2008. Smith, who has verbally committed to Oklahoma State, rushed for 1,744 yards on 256 carries (6.8 average) during his junior season for the Redskins. Smith also finished with 20 rushing touchdowns. The 5-foot-10, 197-pound senior-to-be is ranked as the ninth overall all-purpose back in the nation by Rivals.

    Kirk Fridrich will enter his second year as head coach at Union High School. Fridrich guided the Redskins to a 13-1 finish in 2007. Union dropped a 42-24 decision to Jenks in the Class 6A state championship game, although the Redskins defeated the Trojans 43-42 in overtime in a regular-season matchup last September. Fridrich has also made coaching stops at Stillwater and Owasso, prior to be named Union head coach in 2007.
