ESPN & YouTube star Ryan Foster divulges some of his favorite things

Alexis Vesey, 18, first became captivated with gymnastics after she watched her older sister, Emma, compete at the club level. A club competitor from the age of 3 until her junior year, Vesey brought her "all or nothing" philosophy to the Noblesville High School team last year and helped the squad reach the IHSAA state finals. In 2007-08, Vesey tied the school record in the vault and won the event at the Hoosier Crossroads Conference meet. After graduation, she intends to further her career in college. So who knows this free-spirited gymnast best?

Stratford High School will be loaded in 2009 with three Division I studs patrolling the diamond. Shortstop Jake Miller is headed to Baylor after this season, and vacuums up everything that comes his way. We caught up with him at our February front cover photo shoot to ask him a few questions. Senior Chad Hazelwood has been playing varsity basketball for Holy Cross since he was a freshman. His coach, Mike Durham, says he is the consummate role player. "Last year he always looked to pass first, did the rebounding, he did everything we asked of him," says Durham. "This year, we lost three seniors and Chad has stepped up to score more for us. He accepts any role we give him."
In the 6th Region All "A" tournament game on January 21, Chad's role was rebounding. The 47-45 win was Holy Cross's first win over DeSales in its 12-year history.

Not many high school basketball players can say they scored 1,000 points in their career. So when Minnehaha Academy guard Rachel Hansen did it prior to the midway point of her junior year, nothing else was needed to prove her credibility as one of the state's elite stars. Now add in the fact that Hansen did it after recovering from a torn ACL, a torn meniscus and partially torn LCL in her left knee, an injury she suffered last March in the state tournament quarterfinals, and her accomplishment becomes one of the most intriguing stories of the year. Hansen reached her milestone Saturday, Jan. 10 on the way to a career-high 33-point performance in a 67-48 win over Braham. Minnehaha Academy was ranked No. 5 in Class AAAA midway through January.
