When it comes to a topnotch high school athletic career, it's already been a long and eventful run for Cassy Opitz. But it's fair to say the best may be still to come for the Eden Prairie standout cross country and track star, who still has her senior track and field season ahead. Opitz is the defending state champion in the 3200-meter run, was the Class AA state cross country champ last fall and was named the 2008-09 Gatorade Minnesota Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year in January. She has made a verbal commitment to run at the University of Minnesota this coming fall.
We asked Cassy's father, Kevin, as well as her track coach, James Strait, to join in on the Triple Play survey this month to see who knows the ins and outs of Cassy's lifestyle best.
