Time to Move Over
It is time for me to step aside and turn over the editor's duties to the very capable hands of Ms. Carrie Gill. Truth be told, Carrie has been doing most of the editing duties for several months anyhow.
Carrie brings a fresh perspective to the magazine and I'm sure no one will notice the difference since it has been primarily her for several months. I guess my ego wouldn't let me step aside but fair is fair. I will still be going to the games but my main focus will be trying to sell advertising, as we don't exist without it. There are not enough hours in the day to do both. I'm sure you'll still get an occasional story out of me (not that anyone has been asking for them).
We have been very fortunate to have such great support from the community from the standpoint of story ideas, writers and photographers...thank you all. We have expanded our distribution at your request so the magazine can be found at many more locations. Look on the distribution page towards the front of the magazine and remember we are in the free magazine section usually by the entrance or exit.
I look forward to the growth of our magazine and hope we will continue to earn your support.
See you at the games

Here We Go...
Many thanks to Mike for the opportunity he's given me to be such a big part of this magazine. It's a publication that I'm proud to be involved with and can't wait to see where we will be in a few years.
I have been a sports fan my whole life and have a strong passion for high school athletics. Many memories were made and lessons learned during my high school days on an ice rink. Sports are a special way to connect with a group of people, learn how to set and achieve goals and represent a community.
Since the dead of winter, I've been looking forward to being able to watch games (work that is) in the sun. The spring sports seasons are short so we're packing in as much as we can this month. One student-athlete that we featured is Mahtomedi's Justin Gominsky - a kid with a very bright future. After leading the Zephyrs to a heartbreaking championship game in football, Gominsky hopes for a better outcome on the baseball diamond.
A few stories that we thought you'd want to read before State Tournament time comes around are about the Forest Lake boys golf team, softball team from St. Bernard's and Mounds Park tennis program. Each one looks to be a strong contender for some hardware this year.
A new feature to our publication this month is the "A Day in the Life" write-up. We asked Blair Bonner, a standout golfer from Highland Park, to log her day. It's an interesting glimpse into the life of a successful student-athlete.
This month's issue has a lot of information and photos that were provided by the community. There's nothing better then coaches writing in who they think deserve to be in "Spotlight" or parents sending in great game photos. We are here to capture highlights and share them with the community so send anything my way that you want to spread around.
I look forward to this new adventure as the editor and thank you for your continued support of the magazine.
