Athletes of the Week: 4-14-09

Sara Moulton, Eagan, softball The junior pitcher struck out 14 batters in a perfect-game (2-0) win over Apple Valley. She racked up 14 more strikeouts in a two-hit 7-0 win over Lakeville South. Kyle O' Shea, Centennial, baseball The senior left-handed pitcher and Gophers recruit struck out 10 in a complete game no-hitter against Andover (7-0). Joe Loeffler, Burnsville, baseball The senior co-captain lead an explosive offense, batting .778 with six RBI and a homer in to lead Burnsville over Eastview (20-6) and Bloomington Kennedy (8-2). The first baseman was also error-free. Mary Wippler, St. Agnes, softball The senior pitcher recorded a shutout and racked up eight strikeouts in a one-hitter against Humboldt last week. She leads the team with 18 strikeouts, a .500 batting average and six RBI. Matt Busch, Roseville, baseball The senior pitcher/third baseman, who is batting .500 with eight RBI, knocked in six runs last week, including a grand slam, to help his team past Concordia Academy (Roseville).
