Bruesewitz named state's AP player of year

Henry Sibley suffered a heartbreaking upset in the Class AAAA state tournament to Bloomington Jefferson, but that didn't discredit the impressive senior season displayed by Warriors star forward Mike Bruesewitz. Bruesewitz was named the 2009 Associated Press Minnesota boys' basketball player of the year for leading the Warriors to a 27-3 record, the most wins in school history, and averaging 17 points per game. Bruesewitz is headed to play basketball for head coach Bo Ryan at the University of Wisconsin. He is joined by on the All-State first team by Hopkins players Raymond Cowels and Royce White, Osseo's Sam Dower and Cooper's Rodney Williams. The second team includes Hopkins center Mike Broghammer, St. Bernard's Jordair Jett, Pelican Rapids' Tydan Storrusten, St. Cloud Tech's Nate Wolters and Minnesota Transitions' Kevin Noreen.
