Hopkins completed possibly the most dominating season in the history of Minnesota boys basketball on Saturday night by winning the Class AAAA State championship on Saturday night at Target Center, just hours after Minneapolis Washburn won the Class AAA title as the winter sports season officially came to a close. The Royals put the finishing touches on a 31-0 season with a 69-59 victory over Osseo to take the big school crown as University of Minnesota-bound Royce White scored a game-high 20 points to help Hopkins clinch the championship. John Rowland led the Orioles with 17 points. While not undefeated, Washburn wrapped its 2008-09 season as the Class AAA champion with a 58-45 triumph over Mankato West for its third-ever State title in the team's first appearance in top bracket wince 1994. Seniors Cedric Martin and RaShede Hageman both had double-doubles for the Millers as Martin scored a game-best 23 points with 10 rebounds and Hageman logging 18 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Washburn closed the year with a 26-5 record.
