Stillwater, Visitation top girls swim/dive polls
The Stillwater Ponies, a fourth-place finisher from 2007, are the top-ranked team in the pre-season Class AA Minnesota State Coaches Association coaches poll. Three-time defending State champion Visitation is the No. 1 team in the Class A rankings.
Defending Class AA champion Maple Grove is ranked second, followed by Eden Prairie, Edina, Wayzata, Minnetonka, Burnsville, Lakeville South, Elk River and Woodbury.

Eden Prairie, Perham win Challenge Cup
Perham and Eden Prairie high schools enjoyed the most success in Minnesota state sports over the last school year.
The Yellowjackets and the Eagles were named the latest winners of the Minnesota State High School League's Challenge Cup competition. Schools earn points for placing in postseason tournaments. Perham was a first-time winner in the small-school division, and Eden Prairie beat all the other big schools.

Mounds View grad swapped for Guardado
Mounds View High School alum Mark Hamburger was traded by the Minnesota Twins to the Texas Rangers in a deal for Eddie Guardado, who saved 86 games in a two-year span in 2002 and 2003 before joining the Seattle Mariners as a free agent.

All-State Cheerleading Teams Announced
Northern Elite All Stars, Minnesota’s fastest growing cheerleading company, is pleased to announce the roster for the first ever All-State Cheerleading Performance Team. Eastview wins State Legion title
Eastview won the American Legion State Division I Baseball Tournament title on Aug. 10 at Alimagnet Park in Burnsville, defeating defending champion Eden Prairie, 16-6, on a sun-soaked evening in the southern metro.
A 20-hit attack spurred Eastview to the victory as the winners posted a four-spot on the board in the opening inning and never looked back en route to the championship.
