Women's basketball is heating up in the Triangle as the field of teams still in play for a state championship is narrowing. On Feb. 26, Southern beat Seventy-First 83-77; Hillside streaked passed Green Hope 68-55 to advance; Wakefield wiped Athens Drive off the slate 58-39; Southeast Raleigh handed a loss to Northern Durham 57-41 and Broughton narrowly defeated a previously undefeated Apex in a heartbreaker 47-46. This weekend pits Southern against Hoggard; Wakefield against Hillside and Broughton against Southeast Raleigh to determine who will win the Eastern Sectionals.
