Get a Jump on Labor Day With Cary vs. Leesville on Thursday Night

If I had to pick just one game to watch Friday night it would be Broughton at Apex.

Cary at Leesville takes center stage Thursday night. The game was moved up to Thursday to give families an extra travel day for the holidays. An excellent idea that more schools should consider. If Leesville deserves the top ten ranking that some media outlets are giving they should handle a rebuilding Cary with no problem. I personally think they will win, but it will be close.

If I had to pick just one game to watch Friday night it would be Broughton at Apex. Broughton came out impressive on both sides of the ball vs. Cary and are still trying to earn some respect this year. Defeating the preseason favorite to win the TRI-8 would really put other teams in the CAP 7 on notice that “This year the CAPS won’t be rolling over”.

I’m actually going to go ahead and put myself out on a limb and pick Broughton to win this one. I saw them play against Cary and was really impressed with the team’s attitude and play this year. Emery Young displayed his knack for finding the goal line last week scoring 3 times, while Quarterback Chandler Browning threw for two touchdowns.

Broughton’s play is not the only reason I am picking them though. It’s the play of Kevin Fogg. “Wait, Fogg plays for Apex”, you might say. That’s exactly my point. Apex hasn’t proved it can win without Fogg scoring multiple touchdowns over the last two seasons. Broughton should at least be able to slow Fogg down and score enough to win.

Check back with Vype for my weekly recap and season outlook after the holidays.
