Wilson Day, a rising junior at Ravenscroft School has qualified to play in the U.S. Junior Amateur Tournament for the second year in a row.
Day is one of four players from a field of 73 to qualify at a tournament at the Gaston Country Club in Gastonia, NC on June 22.
After 36 holes, Day was at even par, posting rounds of 73 and 71. He will travel to this year's U.S. Junior Amateur Tournament at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, NJ July 20-25.
Last year, he competed through Round 2 in Birmingham, AL
The US Junior Amateur is run by the USGA and is the junior version of the US Amateur.
Day started his sports career on the football field, even wearing the same uniform number as his dad who played football for Ravenscroft.He ultimately chose golf as his sport because he enjoyed the low key environment, and because he is good at it.Ravenscroft has racked up numerous state championships over the years.
