Norman North senior swimmer Ian McKenzie is one of the fastest sprinters in the state when he gets in the pool. He has finished in the top three in the state in the 50-meter freestyle since he was a freshman. He is getting ready to make a big impact in the State Swim Meet on February 20 - 21 at the Oklahoma City Community College.

Jordan Basks is a junior for the Claremore Zebra wrestling squad. He was able to defeat Broken Arrow's Derek Steeley in the 125-pound championship match at the Mid-America Nationals Union Wrestling Classic at the Union Multipurpose Activity Center. He finished the season with a bang having two interceptions and a touchdown reception in a 70-27 victory over Will Rogers High. Katie Dark is a senior varsity cheerleader for Broken Arrow High School. She has cheered for 12 consecutive years at Broken Arrow and this being her fourth year on Varsity. Katie as well cheers on a competitive squad, which she has done throughout her whole life. When she is not cheering, she is excelling herself in school. Katie has maintained great grades being in advance classes. She has been involved in yearbook, Latin club, senior board, and was class president, striving everyday to be the best she can be both physically and academically.

She has served as President of Oklahoma Cheer Coaches Association, has been named All-State Coach and Coach of the Year for Oklahoma Coaches Association. ...
Norman High's Parker Bowles is one of the top runners in the state. The junior is also one of the favorites to win the Class 5A state title. He won a pair of national championships during the summer in the 2,000 meter steeplechase and has done well nationally in the 3,000 meter run.

Union's Jeremy Smith is listed as one of the top running back prospects in the state and nation for 2008. Smith, who has verbally committed to Oklahoma State, rushed for 1,744 yards on 256 carries (6.8 average) during his junior season for the Redskins. Smith also finished with 20 rushing touchdowns. The 5-foot-10, 197-pound senior-to-be is ranked as the ninth overall all-purpose back in the nation by Rivals.

Kirk Fridrich will enter his second year as head coach at Union High School. Fridrich guided the Redskins to a 13-1 finish in 2007. Union dropped a 42-24 decision to Jenks in the Class 6A state championship game, although the Redskins defeated the Trojans 43-42 in overtime in a regular-season matchup last September.
