Peter Jessee Update

Monday, January 5, 2009

Happy New Year to everyone. We hope your holidays were one of the best. We have made it through the season and are ready to get back to the PT routine. Our goal for the month is to have Peter strong enough to have braces on his legs by February. If we can accomplish this, I feel his attitude will remain positive and his leg strength will start improving. He has been very concerned about his legs not recovering quicker. There have been some very emotional times over the holidays and I can thank many of you that sent emails to him. Those emails let him know there are others out there cheering and praying for him and it did help lift his spirits. I want to thank a couple of families that invited us to their home over the holidays. Ken and Brenda Salazar in Broken Arrow for inviting us on Christmas Eve and Bron and Christie Cummins for inviting us to their home on Christmas night. Those two evenings were a huge help to get Peter and us through Christmas. Another big thank you to Peter's great friend Wes Moody who has spent a lot of time with Peter while he was home from college during Christmas break. Also a big thank you to Vic Bruns for sending a special Christmas gift called "An Everyday Survival Kit" to remind us what is really important everyday. As most of you know Peter has always planned to attend the University of Oklahoma in Norman. We've talked it over and there just isn't a way he can continue with the intense physical therapy, be a full time student and live by himself so soon after the injury. Last semester he completed six hours and for the spring semester will be taking English and History. I'm not so sure about English, but hopefully History should be a breeze. Cole Cummins will be Peter's navigator to and from English and History will be an on-line class. He plans to continue cheering on his "Sooners" in the National Championship game January 8th. On Christmas Eve we had another very special guest at our house. Many of you may remember our friend Rick Couri's daughter Lindsey, who was diagnose with a serious brain tumor. "Do you believe in Miracles"? Lindsey, through many miracles went to Duke and had the best doctors in the world perform God's miracle and they are giving her a very good chance for full recovery. Lindsey brought back Peter and me t-shirts from Duke and we had to promise Rick that we would get a picture of us in our shirts. This was a tough assignment for me being a loyal KU Jayhawk fan and tough for Peter being a loyal OU Sooner fan in all sports, especially Coach Stoops and the football Sooners. The attachment is the promised picture and I hope Bill Self and Jeremy Case do not see this picture. But a miracle is a miracle and a deal is a deal and we will do what ever it takes and leave no stone unturned so that someday.......................................... He will walk again Bud P.S. In the photo you can see the latest addition to our family. In Peter's lap is one of his Christmas presents. Georgie a labrodoodle and she is already spoiled and taking over the house and below me is Whitney's labrodoodle, Ajia. Hope no one notices that I took the worst picture of the bunch.
