Some of the top high school football players in the state gathered Thursday night at the Waterford Marriott in Oklahoma City to honor their selection as a quarterfinalist for Mr. Football Oklahma presented by State Farm and Vype.com. Tim Flanders of Midwest City was named Mr. Football Oklahoma for 2008 in the large school division (6A-3A). Ronnell Lewis of Dewas was named Mr. Football Oklahoma for 2008 in the small school division (2A-C). Curtis Fitzpatrick of the "Morning Animals" was the Master of Ceremonies. Mr. Football was selected by a combination of media voting, coach voting and onling voting at VYPE.com. Quarterfinalists included Tim Flanders - Midwest City, Chris Carr - Checotah, Gabe Lynn - Jenks, Kyle Webster - Mustang, Beau Blankenship - Norman North, Turner Petersen - Heritage Hall, Auggie McCulley - Hennessey, Johnny Deaton - Sand Springs, Jack Gray - Chandler, Cory Tallent Bridge Creek, Graham King -Heritage Hall, Grant Couch - Davis, David Oku - Carl Albert, Ronnell Lewis - Dewar, Donte Foster - Guthrie, Ethan Sharp - Eufaula. Voting was very close reflecting a deep talent pool in the state of Oklahoma this year. Every single quarterfinalist received at least one first place vote. More than 30,000 votes were cast online at VYPE.com.
