Heritage Hall capped a perfect season with a near flawless win in the Class 2A state championship game on Saturday. The Chargers beat Chandler 37-7 to capture the gold ball. Heritage Hall finished the season 15-0 and gave Chander its first loss of the season as well. Chandler scored on its first drive of the game. But that was all the Lions would get. Heritage Hall scored the next 37 points, including 21 in the first half, to run away with the state title. The Chargers got another impressive defensive effort and had three rushing touchdowns from running back Barry Sanders, Jr. to cap the season in perfect fashion. It was a sweet victory for Heritage Hall, which lost in the 2A state title game a year ago to Cascia Hall. The Chargers captured their second state championship. The other was in 1998 when current New England wide receiver Wes Welker led the Heritage Hall program to the championship.
