Northwest Classen What you need to know: This district has the most depth of quality teams than any in Class 5A. But it has just one really good team, Lawton MacArthur. The Highlanders are a state championship contender, like they are most years. They are a step above the rest in the district. However, there are a lot of quality teams in this district who can play some good football and make it tough on the Highlanders. Deer Creek has one of the best athletes in the state in quarterback Dax Dilbeck. Western Heights had a break out year a year ago. Chickasha and Duncan have solid teams and El Reno had a great year two years ago before struggling last year. Player to watch: Dax Dilbeck, Deer Creek. He is one of the best athletes in the state. He is versatile, being able to run and throw the ball effectively. He's a four-year starter and has thrown for over 4,000 yards for his career. Dilbeck has orally committed to play at Oregon State. One game you have to see: Lawton MacArthur at Deer Creek on Nov. 7. Watch this game because there will be some major Division I talent on the field. Lawston Mac should win this game, but Deer Creek has as close to a one man team as there is in the state in quarterback Dax Dilbeck. He will most likely try to avoid Highlanders defensive back Javon Harris, who has orally committed to Oklahoma.
