Pack up those coolers, and don't forget to bring some extra napkins. Fans, it's that time of year for yet another miraculous Sunday of professional football. In that case, it is vital that you support your team's colors whether it is a numbered jersey, painted face, or a regular plain old t-shirt with your team's logo on it. Just being in the chaotic atmosphere and surrounded with thousands of friendly fanatical tailgaters is what makes NFL games one of the best experiences in world history For many of you Tulsa natives and other surrounding communities, you might keep it safe with the way gas prices are, and take a sensible road trip to watch the Dallas Cowboys or the Kansas City Chiefs play. Therefore, you start your 4-5 hour journey in a compacted vehicle with the whole family. As a usual routine you stay the night at a somewhat reasonable hotel, and hopefully for the ones that have been to a professional game, you have learned from experience that if you want to avoid traffic at all cost and have a decent parking spot, it is imperative to leave the hotel four hours or so prior to kickoff. Finally, after sitting in bumper-to-bumper traffic, you arrive at the stadium of your choice and there it is, sticking out like a ship at a private island, and that excited rush streams through your body and creates it to be completely numb. With the help of those handy traffic directors, you finally find a spot next to people who are dressed head to toe in supporting their teams colors. You take a step out of your car and hear the blaring sounds of a former Rolling Stones song, and best of all the smell of some good ole home cooking BBQ. Next to you is an RV totally decked out with the front hood shaped as a football helmet, along with many other SUV's that have enough memorabilia to cover the whole back end and both sides of the vehicle. While your dad is starting up the fire and your mom is organizing the table, you play a great game of catch with either your sibling or a close friend. Another thing most can't get enough of is pictures, so that when you get home, you can upload them to your computer and prove that you went to a professional football game, and it was the BEST experience, no matter how bad your team lost to the opposing team. After filling up on 15 pieces of ribs, a cup of beans, a handful of potato chips, and 3 chocolate chip cookies, it is time to make your way into the stadium. The closer you get to the stadium, the louder the noise is between the fans and the music, to the point that you can't even hear your friend talking two feet away from you. You're in the concessions area where it is dark then slowly light shines in as you make your way into the stands by the field. 15ft, and let me repeat that, 15ft away from the north end zone! Can life be any better at the moment? Well it can when suddenly you see your face pull up on that 50 ft long jumbo-tron out of 75,000 people there. 20 minutes till kickoff and your favorite team is running out of the corner end zone. Fans screaming and cheering, like a bunch of untamed kids on a jungle gym. You take not only one or two... but at least 50 pictures of the team just running in. Throughout the game, you go wild when your team scores a touchdown and yell at the refs for a bad call. If you're a dedicated fan, you are more than likely going to lose your voice, so be prepared. For most men, the entertainment comes not only from the impacted action of football, but from the dancers/cheerleaders that perform a routine, while for most girls, they are relying to see their future husbands face on the scoreboard screen over and over again. After what could have been a close game or a shutout, you had one of the best times of your life. It is getting somewhat late, but you go ahead and take the five-hour drive back home. You are somewhat tired, but the only thing you can remotely talk about on your way home is how amazing that game was, even if you are so redundant that you repeat the same thing that happened 35 times. More importantly, you are thinking when you're going to attend the next game at their home field. So there you have it. The experience of what you would feel if you attended a NFL football game. For those of you who have experienced one, you know that you can't just attend one, but as many as you possibly can take in. And for the ones who haven't, take my advice, and get out there and try a game or two. You will never know how much fun one really is until you get involved in the action.
