After the Flood:

Saturday, December 1, 2007

Keith Phillips, Carnegie's track coach, is a very dedicated and successful coach. He has been my coach for four years. During those four years, I have been successful because of him. He has helped me go from being out of shape to being a multiple-time state qualifier. Coach Phillips' coaching resume is an impressive one. Not many coaches have done what he's accomplished. He started coaching at Carnegie in 1980 and has coached five state champion teams and two runner-up teams. He has had 28 runners named All-State in track and 25 runners named All-State in cross country. He has runners qualify for state every season. Because of his great dedication, coach Phillips will not let any outside distraction come between him and coaching. His house flooded in late August, and he lost everything. Despite his horrible loss, he went on with practice and meets and competed as if nothing had ever happened. Coach Phillips is a great coach and person. He is dedicated and loves what he does. He always brings out the best in his runners and has turned Carnegie into a great track and cross country program; he will continue to keep it that way as long as he coaches. No matter what happens outside of school, coach Phillips will always be there for his runners
