Mooney headed to Maryland

Monday, June 16, 2008

Caitlin Mooney, one of the best soccer players in Oklahoma and one of the best in the country in her age group, has orally committed to the University of Maryland. Mooney, who is going to be a senior this year at Edmond Santa Fe, chose the Terrapains because she liked the school and the coaching staff. Mooney played half the season for the high school team, but decided to quite the team to concentrate on playing with her Edmond Soccer Club 1991 squad. Mooney had originally committed to Villanova last year, but de-committed after the program's coach resigned. So she opened up her possibilities again and decided to commit to Maryland. Mooney has played with the Under-17 and U-18 U.S. Women's National Teams the past few years. "She just liked everything about the school and the program," said Steve Mooney, Caitlin's father. "She's happy with her choice."
