Sperry standout pitcher Bobby Bundy has been named as the 2007-08 Gatorade Oklahoma Baseball Player of the Year. Bundy, a University of Arkansas signee, helped guide the Pirates to the 2008 Class 3A state championship, the school's second title in three years and fifth overall. The hard-throwing right-hander allowed two runs on five hits during five innings of work in Sperry's 15-2 victory over Beggs in the title game. Bundy also collected eight strikeouts, and added three hits and drove in three runs. During his senior season, Bundy finished with a 9-1 mark on the mound with an earned run average of 0.80 in 54 innings of work, also registering 111 strikeouts. With the bat, he hit .545 with 10 home runs, 42 RBIs and scored 36 runs for the Pirates, which finished the year at 35-3.
