SALLISAW — It took a miraculous play in the final minute last year for Bishop McGuinness to survive Sallisaw.
Sallisaw quarterback Matt Oberste made sure there wouldn’t be nearly as much drama this time.Despite a huge game by running back LaRone Richardson, the Irish lost 20-14 to Sallisaw on Friday night in Class 4A state quarterfinal at Lattimore Stadium.Facing third-and-nine at its own 11 with two minutes left, Oberste scrambled for 14 yards to put the Black Diamonds into the semifinals against Star Spencer at a neutral site next week."We weren’t going to let what happened last year happen again,” Oberste said.Read more on NewsOK.com
