Edison Football Coach Steps in the Wrestling Ring

Monday, May 19, 2008

Two Edison High School football coaches will never be told they are not dedicated to their school as they went above and beyond the call of duty on April 25th to help out the Edison High School wrestling program. They donated their time by entering the pro wrestling ring. Head coach Wade Weller and one of his assistant coaches, Brian Worrell, joined in a fund raiser for the Edison High wrestling program and competed in an actual match against pro wrestling stars from the local wrestling federation of Compound Pro wrestling. Wrestling coach Brian Powell and his staff were in attendance along with many students, school supporters, and overall wrestling fans. "Its always a pleasure and an honor to put on wrestling shows for a good cause, especially school-related fund raisers, because its all about the kids. Compound is a family oriented wrestling group and what better way to raise money for the wrestling club." said linebackers coach Brian Worrell. Coach Weller who entered the squared circle for the first time ever that night followed that up by stating: "I enjoyed being part of an event that helped contribute to our student-athletes here at Edison, plus a couple of those bad guys really needed to be taught a lesson." Highlights of the match can be seen on the Compound website at www.compoundpro.com.
