Katy (Texas) High School has two verbally committed 2010 prospects, and one nearing a decision. Safety Sam Holl had a tremendous 2008 season, which culminated in the Tiger's second consecutive Class 5A state championship. The 6-foot-1 run-stopping defender was recently offered by Rice University and another Conference USA school could be nearing an offer soon. The SMU Mustangs are recruiting Holl and have had luck at Katy High School. Holl's former teammate Bo Levi Mitchell is the Mustangs' signal-caller. "I really like Rice and SMU," said Holl. "They are both great schools and up and coming programs. I plan on visiting both=2 0campuses in the spring or summer." Holl has anchored the Tiger's secondary since his sophomore year. In two years on varsity he has been a part of two state championship teams. "We are working hard this offseason to get three in a row," he said. "We are bringing back a lot of guys on both sides of the ball and the expectations are high as usual." Teammates Zachary Swanson and Shep Klinke have committed to Stanford and Texas A&M, respectively. Holl is not the only athletic member of his family. His sister Holly Holl will play college softball for Baylor next season.
