The top kicker in the country rated by Chris Sailer Kicking is Clear Lake (Texas) High School's Dustin Hopkins who has honed his skills for the past two years. All the practice, travel and evaluation have paid off for the 6-foot-2 boomer, as he made his verbal commitment today. "I had so many great schools looking at me, but I really feel that God is pointing me towards Florida State," Hopkins said. "All around, I feel like it's the best fit for me." Hopkins held offers from schools in every conference, but felt like the Seminoles was the spot for him. "I also want to go into broadcasting and they have a good program for that also," he said. "I had always grown up watching Florida State and Miami games and always said that if I was offered by them that I'd be so excited." His dream came true this spring after receiving a signed letter by Coach Bobby Bowden. "When I saw the letter I knew it was an offer," he said. "I went and visited and loved it. I got to meet Coach Bowden and Coach (Jimbo) Fisher and they were great. Coach Bowden just seemed so wise and has been in the game so long. I just felt comfortable with both of them." Hopkins knows what being the kicker at Florida State comes with --the wide-left jokes and the big-game kicks. "Kickers at Florida State are remembered for being either famous or infamous," he said. "When the game is on the line, I want to be out there to drill it right down the pipe. I want to be a famous one."
