High School Sports The Magazine and Body Zone hosted the 1st Annual “Letter of Intent” event on February 18, 2008, ushering in the Class of 2008. “Decision ’08: Hard Work Pays Off” was our first event, designed to pay tribute to some of the Berks County students who have received college athletic scholarships.
A letter of intent signed by high school athletes is the last step in securing their collegiate scholarship. For many, it’s the day they can proudly sport their new school colors and collegiate name, as many of our student athletes did at HSSTM’s event. Tennis, swimming, volleyball, field hockey and track were just a few of the sports represented.
Our guests were treated to lunch at Body Zone while some of Greater Reading’s own hometown heroes spoke to the students. Wyomissing graduate and NFL player Ross Tucker and Wilson graduate and Olympic swimmer Kristy Kowal shared their own experiences on the transition from high school to collegiate sports and offered advice to students on how to make the most of college.
