Name: Jordan Garcia School: Fleetwood High School
Number of years pitching: Since he was five-years-old
Favorite Pitch: Two-Seam Fastball Coaches Pick: “Probably his fastball”
What sets him apart from other pitchers: “He is the type of pitcher that is not going to overpower you as a hitter, but one that hits his sports and forces hitters to hit his pitch. He is a smart pitcher who always has a game plan.” -Coach Rolland Green
What he says: “I think being a left-handed pitcher and also my arm angle being side arm is rare for a pitcher and it’s harder to pick up. The movement in my two seam fastball also sets me apart.”
College:I plan on attending Mansfield University in the fall and I will be pitching and playing first base. My older brother Justin is currently a sophomore there.”
Thoughts on the top of his game: “Jordan’s biggest strength is that he is a competitor. He doesn’t back down from a challenge. He always wants the ball in a big game situation. In regards to what he brings to the team is his demeanor. He always keeps a positive attitude and keeps things in perspective.” –Coach Green
Pre-pitch routine: “I usually stretch, throw to the catcher and make sure all my pitches are working, then I’m ready.”
Superstitions: Before I step on the rubber to pitch, I have to slide one of my feet across the dirt backwards as if I was making a line or something. I have to swing the bat three times when I am on deck before going up to hit, also.
Music he listens to before a game: Usually Linkin Park or Bullet for My Valentine gets me pumped up before the game. Usually my coach, Coach Green, gives a speech before the game to get me pumped up to pitch well, more so than the music.”
