The 4 Aces - Sam Eagleson
Greater Reading, PA
|
|
|
Name: Sam Eagleson School: Governor Mifflin - senior
Number of Years Pitching: 9 years.
Favorite pitch: 4-seam fast ball. Coaches pick: “Sam has an above average fastball that he uses to get ahead of hitters and to put them away.” – Coach Steve Murray
What sets him apart from other pitchers: “Sam’s overall athleticism puts him ahead of the competition. He works quick on the mound, throws strikes, and has three effective pitches. All of those assets make the rest of our team better because his teammates are always in the game and ready to make a play.” –Coach Murray
What he says: “My control and keeping the ball low.”
College: Johns Hopkins University, Fall of 2008, will play baseball and football.
Thoughts on being at the top of his game: “First thing is keeping my head during hard innings. Second thing is trusting my catcher to spot up and call the right pitches at the right time, and last, just to throw strikes and let your fielders make the plays, strike outs will come naturally.”
Pre-pitch routine: “No time, I work quick. I get the ball back from the catcher and get right back on the mound.
Superstitions: “I always do the same repetitions of the same stretches and I always “icy hot” my legs exactly 30 minutes before game time.
Music he listens to before a game: “Anything without words to calm myself.”
2007 Pitching Stats
4-4, ERA 3.46, in 10 starts, 1 shutout, 52 2/3 innings pitched, ER – 26, 64 strike outs, 19 walks
