Tommy Steiner, Our Lady of Providence Jr-Sr High School
Steiner, a junior, has been a member of the Providence swim team since his freshman year. He has Down syndrome, but he doesn’t let that stop him. In the “Rock the Block” meet, he swam in the boys’ 50-yard freestyle and boys’ 100-yard freestyle relay events. Tommy always gets encouragement from opposing teams as well as his own. The crowd cheered wildly for him during his swim at the Rock the Block meet. Tommy is very motivated by the applause and has received the Providence Blue Pride spirit award the past two swim seasons.
