St. X wins team golf competition...Thomas in playoff for individual title

By a single stroke, the St. Xavier Tigers claimed the Kentucky State Golf title for 2009 today at Bowling Green Country Club.

After Tuesday's rain delay that forced first-round play into Wednesday, the Tigers finished with a team score of 606 that barely topped second place Lexington Christian's 607.

The individual title remained undecided, however, with St. X's Justin Thomas and Lexington Christian's Hunter Stewart in a tied score of 142. Both players had first rounds of 72 and second rounds of 70. The two will meet Thursday morning for a playoff at 7:15.
