Former Boston Celtics player and WNBA coach Dee Brown was in town today working on a plan to bring his basketball training program to Louisville at HOOPS.

The program he developed in Orlando, Florida, called EDGE (Elite Development Growth Environment), is designed to help players age 6-17 develop the fundamental skills of basketball to set a good foundation for their team and league play. The program is set to begin by early 2009.

Brown says his program is designed to help kids develop their basic skills – what you do when no one is looking – so they will become better players. “What a training environment does is supplement the high school coaches. The coach’s job is based on wins and losses. Our job is based on success and growth of kids.”
