St.X defeats Trinity
On Friday night, 10-3-08, #2 ranked St.Xavier defeated #1 Trinity @ Papa Johns Stadium 30-6 in a matchup of the long time rivals. A record crowd of close to 39,000 on an absolutely beautiful night witnessed the game. St.X jumped out to an early 10-0 lead and carried that score into halftime. Trinity scored first in the 2nd half, however the extra point was blocked and the Tigers led 10-6. From that point on in the 2nd half the Tigers used a tough running game to control the clock and added 3 touchdowns to eventually win by the final score of 30-6. Duece Finch led the Tigers in rushing and Michael McCormick led an opportunistic defense to control the Rocks. St.X defense, which leads the state in scoring defense, has only given up 19 total points in 5 games.
History has told us that the Tigers and Rocks will meet again later this year in the playoffs as both teams will be favored within their own district.
The game was filmed by NFL films.
