The 2009 and 2010 KHSAA football finals are expected to leave the city of Louisville after a 29 year continuous run. Due to possible conflicts with Papa John's Cardinal stadium and the University of Louisville football schedule, it appears the finals for all classes will move out of Louisville. The finals are slated for Dec 4-5, 2009 and Dec 3-4, 2010. UofL currently does not have their schedule made out during 2009 and 2010, thus cannot commit to holding the finals at the stadium. At the present time, Bowling Green is the only city that has submitted a bid to host the games. WKU stadium currently holds 23,000 and has an artificial turf which is needed for playing 6 games over 2 days. The finals have been held at Papa John's Cardinal stadium since 2003 and has been a good facility for teams and fans. Last years finals between St.X and Trinity drew over 15,000 fans. The KHSAA will make a decision after all bids are received.
