Male High School has produced some outstanding football players over the years, including current NFL players Chris Redman and Michael Bush, but Bulldogs coach Bob Redman won't be surprised if Justin Green turns out to be the best of them all.

"They've all been tremendous in every capacity, but none of them have had the speed that he has," Redman says.

They'd all likely be green with envy for Green's speed. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound running back/defensive back is a multi-time track state champion—he won the 100-, 200- and 400-meter dashes in state meet in late May—who has been timed at 4.41 in the 40-yard dash.

His fleet feet have carried over to the football field, where Green ranked sixth in 6A in rushing (139.9 yards per game) in the regular season last year and led the class in scoring (24 TDs, 16.9 ppg), while surpassing 2,000 all-purpose yards.

Green's combination of speed and strength had colleges clamoring for his services: He committed to Ohio State University.

Green's future, though, may be on the other side of the ball. Redman pointed to a 7-on-7 game at Notre Dame between the Bulldogs and Indiana powerhouse Ben Davis.

"Ben Davis had a kid who was being recruited by all the big schools, including Notre Dame, but Justin was on him and the kid didn't have a catch," Redman says. "He's one of the best cover guys defensively that I've ever seen."

And Redman has seen plenty of great players.

"It's an honor to be considered in that group of people. I know I've got big shoes to fill, but those expectations help take my game to another level," Green says. "Following guys like Doug Beaumont, Mike Bush and Montrell Jones. I looked up to them, they forced me to take it to another level."
