The Tigers went 8-4 last season with regular season loses to Ryle (55-10), Male (55-33), and Ballard (42-25). The fourth loss came in the 2nd round of the playoffs at the hands of Male 38-27. Some of Fern Creek's major wins included a 19-14 win over Meade County at Meade County and a 33-7 win over Eastern at Eastern. Meade County knocked off Male in the 3rd round of the playoffs and Eastern went 7-4. The offense looks fine with Jr. Bryan Hynes (6'4, 185) returning. Hynes completed 106 of 185 pass attempts for 1,379 yards and 20 TDs while throwing only 6 picks. Hynes had 120 total points last season as a sophomore! He's one of the best kept secrets in the state and if he produces the same kind of numbers he had last year, the Creek could go deep in the state tournament. Senior running back Jimmy Welch rushed for 1,213 yards and 9 TDs last season as a junior and looks to add to his numbers this year as a receiver as well. Welch caught 33 balls for 459 yards and 5 TDs during last season's campaign. With two returning starters at key skill positions, the Tigers could make some noise in 6A if the defense holds at the end of the year. In their loses, the Creek gave up too many points for a team that shut down high-powered offenses early in the season. The Tigers open the '08 season with Meade County on Aug. 29...an early test for a team gearing for another playoff run.
