Krista Adams had just returned from a weekend softball tournament in Ohio with the Louisville Stunners and was preparing for a week-long vacation when VYPE caught up with her. As a three-sport athlete, her days are mostly filled with one sport or another. “I’m really athletic and real competitive, so it just fits my personality,” she says.

Once a member of many teams, the demands of high school have forced this 5’4” Butler sophomore to trim her calendar to only volleyball, basketball and softball.

“In middle school I did seven or eight sports because I had time to do it,” she says. “It was just really fun. I want to play all the ones I used to, but there’s not enough time.” She chose those three because they are more popular sports, plus she feels more adept at them.

“Volleyball is fun and I’m good at it and all my friends are on the team,” Adams says.

After volleyball season, she says it takes some work for her to get motivated for basketball. “I don’t like it until I start to play it and it gets my adrenaline pumping. I get so into it that I don’t want to quit playing.”
Her favorite sport is softball. “It seems like I’ve gone a lot further with softball and it’s my best sport of all of them. I’ve been playing it since I was little,” she says.

Krista has mastered the balancing act pretty well already, achieving a 4.0 GPA for her freshman year.

Although she still has three years of high school, Krista sees sports in her college future. “I definitely want to play sports in college, but I just have to figure out which ones.”
