The U.S. Olympic Trials for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing in August have many Kentucky and Indiana natives participating in events against the best in the country.

In the Swimming Trials:

Sacred Heart grad Caroline Burckle finished fourth in the 400 meter freestyle. She swam a career-best of 4:05.09. Burckle is a senior at the University of Florida.
Abby MacGregor, also of SHA, swam the 200 breaststroke.

Jeffersonville's Ben Hesen, last year's NCAA champion, qualified for the 100 backstroke finals.

St. Xavier alum Clark Burckle was seventh in the final of the 400-meter individual medley, finishing in 4:19.24.

In the Track and Field Trials:

St. Xavier High School's Bobby Curtis, who won the NCAA 5000-meter title June 13, finished sixth in the OT final with a time of 13:35.00.
