Derek Smith Shootout goes to Bulldogs in a Scare

Male holds on to beat Eastern 68-66
Male led Eastern 41-27 at halftime of the Derek Smith Shootout held at Hoops this past weekend.
The Bulldogs lost their big lead after being outscored 39-27 in the second half by the Eagles. Despite the second-half surge, Male managed to win in dramatic fashion during the offseason tournament.
With 1:25 remaining in the game, the Bulldogs led 66-52. Then the Eagles' Remy Abell soared up and down the court to score 7 of his 24 points in the final push.
It was a valiant effort by last year's Seventh Region runners-up that just came a talon short.
